Wow! Long time since I did anything here.
So my birthday passed away ... rather quietly. I had this big party planned, and had to postpone it because some of my friends were out. It's tragic. I had planned drinks and bowling at Amoeba (Leela Palace) and dinner at Indi Joes. All down the drain.
Ok. Good news is that I've finally bought server space - and a whopping 5GB of it, and for 3 years. So things with my site should get moving now. It'll take a few days to get it configured (busy as I am). Once it's done, you'll know it's done, because I'm going to change the face anyways. And did you know that poddu.com is now showing up in google, if you search for "mayur poddar" or "poddu"!!!
Oh yes. I've started taking guitar lessons. I'm throughly enjoying it. Got a new 6 string acoustic "spanish" guitar.
When I told someone that I had bought a guitar, they asked me if I had a spanish or hawaiian! I had no idea. Then I checked up, and found this:
There are two varieties of acoustic guitar :
(1) SPANISH GUITAR & (2) HAWAIIAN GUITAR
SPANISH GUITAR is very popular in Western Countries & India. It is widely used as an accompanying musical instrument for light music such as - Ghazals, Geet, Bhajans & Film Music in India.
HAWAIIAN GUITAR is named as per it's origin from HAWAII-ISLAND, situated in the Pacific Ocean near Honolulu in the territory of USA It is equally popular like Spanish and is adapted through Indian Film Music and Ravindra Sangeet, about a century back.
Regarding the structure, there is no marked difference between Spanish and Hawaiian Guitar, except the style of playing and the strings are slightly elevated with the help of a metal plate in Hawaiian Guitar.
This information comes from the internet from http://www.artindia.net/kamala.html
Thats about the guitars. The one I got is definitely spanish. I got one with a inbuilt pickup, so I can hook it up to an amp anytime I like. Though I'm not sure I want to do that just now. After 4 classes, I fell it'll take me atleast 5 years to play anything decently. One things for sure -
I'm loving it! So much so that I've been getting distracted at work, the notes start bothering me in my head
Cheers,
